Top Christmas Markets in Prague

Old Town Square: The most well-known Prague Christmas market takes place in the Old Town square. Surrounded by centuries-old Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance buildings, this market has an especially pretty atmosphere. A large Christmas tree sits in the centre of the square, lit with hundreds of tiny Christmas lights. Meanwhile, concerts and short plays are performed on the outdoor stage nearby.

St. Wenceslas Square: Another popular, picturesque Christmas market in Prague occurs each year in St. Wenceslas Square. It’s not as well known as the Old Town market, so it’s a great place to escape the crowds while still enjoying a festive Christmas environment. Each night at 5 PM, there’s an exciting tree lighting ceremony with a light show to accompany it! There’s even a small petting zoo for kids at this market.

Republic Square: Located not far from the main centre of the city, Republic Square hosts a charming Christmas market. Though it’s on the smaller side, this quaint market has an intimate, local vibe though it’s in the middle of a major city. Throughout its about 30 stalls, you’ll see a range of lovely handmade toys, decorations, jewelry, and more! The prices here are also much more affordable than the more well-known Christmas markets in Prague.

Prague Castle: There’s nothing more magical than a Christmas market at a historic castle! The market at St. George’s Square boasts just that. With over 70 stalls to browse, here you get the quintessential Christmas market experience with an extraordinary view of Prague Castle and the sparkling city below.
